Holy One, we confess that we are unholy.
We have taken the side of your Enemy
and believed his lies rather than your Word.
We have distrusted your goodness.
We have sought to hide the truth about our sins.
We have even blamed you for the evils we have done.
You are Love, but we have hated you.
We sin, and we do not deserve your forgiveness—
but we are bold to ask for it because of your Beloved Son,
who loved us and gave himself for us.
Please, Father, assure us of your grace through the Gospel of Christ.
Purify us through the cleansing fire of your Holy Spirit.
And crush the devil’s power under our feet.
We ask in the name of the Lord Jesus and according to his will. Amen.
